During the Day of Unity, King reluctantly agrees to release The Collector in order to save the denizens from the Draining Spell. However, to protect his friends, King gives himself up to The Collector to ensure Luz and her friends escape safely to the Human Realm. In the months that follow, King is forced to be the companion to The Collector, who has unleashed a twisted reign of chaos upon the Isles in the form of an elaborate game inspired by King's life. Although King tries to convince The Collector to see the error of his ways, The Collector later traps King, Eda, and Luz in a new series of games in retaliation for a perceived betrayal of King's part. Eventually, King and his friends manage to convince The Collector what true friendship is, but not long after, Belos corrupts the Isles and commands it to rise again.

But then the creature attacked them and Eda took King home, during which King's horn was broken when the creature fired a makeshift arrow at Eda. Eda, under the assumption King was a kind of dog, gave him his collar and kept him as a pet. One day, Eda saw King stacking random items like the rocks in the tower, which looked like people. Eda commented that he looked like "a king amongst his subjects", making King wonder what a king was. Eda then told him what being a king meant, resulting in King getting the idea that he was a demon overlord, and Eda just played along with it.

King refuses Luz's suggestion to use her story, saying it's too lovey-dovey. Luz finally snaps and tells King that his refusal to compromise is the reason why they are trapped in the situation. Upon hearing this, King finally realizes his mistake and apologizes to Luz for hurting her feelings, which she accepts. After freeing the Collector, King becomes more concerned for his friend's safety, as he forces Luz and her friends into the Human Realm rather than face the Collector.
All this appears familiar to King, and more memories come flashing back. He remembers a deep roar and then something happened, but he was too small to do anything. The next time he woke up, he hatched from an egg, and was carried away by that creature. The roar he heard meant "son", meaning he had a father and all those wall carvings were of him. As for the creature, it was actually guarding King, who managed to get it back under his command. Realizing he had a father, King desperately wants to find him and Luz promises they will try.

However, The Collector declares that if they want to play "Owl House," they will need a real Owl House, and he begins disassembling the skull to prepare for the game. Willow then realizes the portal is their only chance of getting out, and the others head to it. However, Luz wants to stay behind, as she cannot leave Eda and everyone else helpless. Still, Amity convinces her to leave with them, as at the moment, there is nothing else they can do to stop The Collector. Reluctantly, she agrees, and they make their way toward the portal. Back at the Titan's head, everyone is rejoicing over nearing the eclipse.
Bonding with Luz's friends
However, Belos comments that it's impossible, baffling The Collector. Belos activates the portal door, revealing that he only has enough Titan's Blood to return to the Human Realm. As such, he won't be using it to free The Collector, not that he was ever going to. The latter begins to get angry and starts to scream, proclaiming that he thought they were friends and Belos promised to set him free.
During Luz's belated quinceañera, he happily greets her and shows Luz his new powers. As things die down, Luz watches as Belos reverts back to Philip and he supposedly thanks her for curing him of his curse. As it rains and he starts to melt, she stays silent as he becomes nothing and he, Raine, and Eda stomp Belos to death. After pausing to take everything in, and Luz reverts back to her normal form, she tells King she spoke with his father and he asked her to tell him "I loaf you" and King laughs at the pun. As Luz teaches Eda and Lilith about glyphs, King tries to help Eda as she struggles with her idea of combining glyphs by drawing them over each other. Eventually things get out of hand and he begs Eda to ask Lilith, who excels in glyph magic, to help them.
At their ship, Hunter and Alador notice their coven sigils glowing as King worries over the commencement of the Draining Spell. Suddenly, Coven Guards swarm the space around the airship, warning for it to be landed. The Coven Guards command the Abomatons to attack the ship, which Hunter attempts to disrupt. While Amity gets her hands on the Abomaton remote and turns them off, the ship is substantially destroyed and falls to the ground. Once Eda and Lilith finally make it to the Bloom of Eternal Youth, Eda pushes Lilith and grabs the flower for herself. However, the flower soon vanishes, and the two sisters realize they may have just walked into a trap.
She suddenly appears at the entrance via an invisibility glyph and leads him outside the room. Belos declares that the two of them do not belong in the Demon Realm, only for Luz to retort that she's not like him. Still, he is suddenly restrained by plant vines, revealing the presence of King, Willow, Gus, Amity, and Hunter - who have arrived to help Luz - and they all begin fighting Belos in his monster form. Gus takes King to the sides to stay safe, despite his insistence that he can assist in the fight. Without warning, he is flicked down a stairwell, where he finds a weakened Kikimora.
